Aceris Law is co-sponsoring an international arbitration conference with Hogan Lovells, Dechert, White & Case and Dentons, to be held on 2 June 2017 at the Centre Panthéon in Paris, France.
The conference will be composed of a series of round table discussions including a variety of distinguished speakers in the field of international arbitration.
The theme of the international arbitration conference is « La Protection des Investissements Etrangers : Vers une Réaffirmation de l’Etat« , or, « The Protection of Foreign Investments: Towards a Reaffirmation of the State? »
One round table will focus on the evolution of mechanisms of substantive protections, including issues of competence and standing, fair and equitable treatment, expropriation and non-discrimination.
The next will focus on recent innovations concerning substantive protections, focusing on the definition of investments and protected investors, exceptions to protection, issues concerning human rights and the environment, as well as the obligations of investors under bilateral and multilateral agreements.
The final round table will concern the active role of the State in investment arbitration proceedings, providing an overview of the financing of the investor, financial obstacles to State actions, States as Claimants in investment arbitrations and the promotion of transparency in investment arbitration proceedings.
